Trauma and Torture: The Imprisonment of Palestinian Children
Israel’s occupation has made life very difficult for most Palestinians, but none are more vulnerable to the hardships of that occupation than Palestinian children. In the infographic below, we highlight the mistreatment these children are subjected to (hundreds each year) at the hands of Israeli authorities, which very frequently involves physical violence, among a wide-range of abuses, in direct violation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international agreements.
For decades, the United States has simultaneously protested Israel’s occupation of Palestine in rhetoric, while actively shielding Israel from real accountability for that illegal occupation. This approach has allowed Israel to act with impunity, expanding settlements throughout the Palestinian territories, in direct violation of international law, and systematically violating a wide-range of basic Palestinian human rights.
